A Wedding in South Africa
I hail from Ireland, where Ryan and I now reside together. Despite being Irish, my partner is deeply rooted in South African culture, having grown up in Durban. Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of accompanying him back to his homeland numerous times. Each visit has only strengthened my own connection to the country, leaving me with a profound desire for my loved ones to experience its enchantment firsthand.
As we embarked on the journey of engagement, it became clear that our special day would be a celebration in the very place that holds so much meaning to both of us – South Africa.

When contemplating the ideal location for our special day in South Africa, we were spoilt for choice. The abundance of breathtaking venues had us torn, but ultimately, our hearts led us to KwaZulu-Natal – a region that held a special place in Ryan’s heart and mine. Having visited the picturesque KZN Midlands on several occasions, I was struck by its uncanny resemblance to Ireland – the lush rolling fields, quaint country cafes, and serene vistas, all set against a backdrop of agreeable weather.
It was as if this enchanting landscape had been tailor-made to reflect our unique blend, a perfect fusion of Ryan’s roots and my own.
Incredible Forest Chapel
Our wedding venue search was a breeze, thanks to the perfect combination offered by Haycroft Farm. We craved an indoor-outdoor celebration that seamlessly blended ceremony and reception areas. The forest chapel and deck overlooking the lake delivered exactly that – we exchanged vows under the stars during our outdoor ceremony, followed by a stylish canapé reception with breathtaking views.
As the evening unfolded, we moved indoors to the charming country venue, where a roaring fireplace provided warmth and ambiance on a chilly winter’s night. It was the perfect setting for some lively moments, as our South African friends busted out their best dance moves while the Irish contingent showed off their Riverdance flair. Throughout the planning process, the Haycroft team, led by Pippa and Dudu, went above and beyond to ensure our special day exceeded all expectations.
Wedding Flower & Decor
For Kate, flowers and decor played a crucial role in bringing her autumnal wedding vision to reality. She had a crystal-clear idea of what she wanted, and Sarah Stewart’s exceptional skills brought not only that vision but even more beauty to the occasion. The wedding’s aesthetic was so striking that even guests couldn’t help but comment on the stunning arrangements. Furthermore, Kate praised Sarah as an absolute pleasure to collaborate with.

Amazing Wedding Vendors
The real magic of our Enchanted Forest Wedding at Haycroft Farm happened when we brought together an incredible team of vendors. Our photographer and videographer, TyandEri, worked wonders to capture the essence of our special day. Lindsay Nixon and her talented team made getting ready a joyous experience for me and my bridesmaids. The music provided by The Kickstands and DJ Alan set the perfect tone, while Hamblins Catering wowed us with their culinary skills.
Smith’s Bakeshop delivered a stunning wedding cake that was almost too beautiful to eat! It truly was the exceptional vendors that transformed our day into an unforgettable celebration.
