Check More Detail about Masticating VS. Centrifugal

With wheatgrass, you need a machine that will extract the juice from the wheatgrass slowly. This slow process ensures you don’t destroy any minerals or nutrients.

This can sometimes be difficult because people believe more power is better. With wheatgrass, RPMs play a huge role. You want a juicer that has between 75 to 120 RPM for the best results.

Another issue with juicing wheatgrass is that it can clog up your juicer. Wheatgrass is incredibly fibrous, making it difficult to process for a high-speed machine. However, centrifugal juicers like the Breville JE98Xl Juice Fountain Plus can juice leafy greens by using a few extra steps.

Should I purchase a manual or electric juicer?

There are several different types of juicers, and one of the biggest differences is manual versus electric.

With a manual juicer, you will have a lower price point. They are also more affordable but made of cheaper materials. Manual juicers are also very portable, so you can easily use them away from home. Obviously, one of the drawbacks is that it requires manual effort. Perfectly fine to get yourself fit, but can be a little heavy on the arms.

There is also the issue of mess, and if you are trying to juice something that has a lot of fibre in it like Wheatgrass, this is going to be difficult to extract the best quality juice from your food.

Electric juicers are the better option for extracting all that goodness. You can choose from a Centrifugal, Masticating, or Triturating juicers.

A Centrifugal juicer has a disc in the centre chamber that cuts up the produce as it is fed down the chute. (Sometimes whole, so no need to cut your food). They are considered speedy and powerful juicers, but generally don’t manage to juice leafy greens and wheatgrass too well. This is due to the speed the disc spins at, so wrap your greens around harder fruits like apples.

A Masticating juicer has a tube and an auger, and the juice is squeezed out by this auger. They proved far higher juice yield with a very dry pulp at the end. They are ideal for more fibrous vegetables but can be a little more time consuming due to the slower speed of the juicer.

Triturating juicers use two augers that are interconnected. They give a lot of juice, by the way, the auger bind together and normally squeeze your produce in three stages as it travels along the auger.

What is your price point?

You should have a budget in mind before you even begin to shop for juicers. For example, the Super Angel Deluxe Model is a great juicer, but it does require a huge outlay initially. You want a juicer that fits your needs and doesn’t break the bank.

On the other hand, you should be looking for a machine which is well made and is BPA free.  You get what you pay for,  so look at warranty too. Make sure your price point is high enough to buy a higher quality machine. You can thank me later.

Warranty is Important

The warranty of your juicer will protect you against faulty parts.  Many companies provide you with a longer warranty because they stand by their product. The warranty depends on the company, but most range from 1 to 15-years. Some companies will also have a warranty only on specific parts.

Make sure you know what is covered in your warranty, and if you can, even look for juicers that can offer you a trial period of 30 days to make sure it is right for you, like the JESE JS-500A Juicer.

Is the Juicer Easy to clean?

Most folks I speak to who are getting into juicing their foods want to know how easy it is to keep these machines clean. Back when I first started out juicing I used a blender and then went on to a Centrifugal Juicer. There were a few parts to keep clean but as time has gone on cleaning has become easier.

When I bought my Omega J8006, life became so easy. I just use warm soapy water, soak for a little bit while I clean the main parts and finish off with the filter straight after I have juiced. This is a PRO TIP by the way. You’ll save yourself lots of headaches and be done in minutes.

There are plenty of Juicers which offer dishwasher safe parts but to be honest, I like to clean my juicer parts by hand and know that they are clean!

Conclusion

I swear by my Omega as the best juicer for wheatgrass juice. As a masticating juicer with has a low speed of 80 rpm, it really extracts plenty of goodness from my produce and I have very little waste afterwards. But then I am biased and I can really on recommend that if you are ready to improve your juicing techniques then a masticating juicer is the way you need to go.

Thanks for stopping by. If you have found a juicer which is perfect for wheatgrass, let me know. I would love to hear all about it. What other recipes are you using to combine wheatgrass with? Do tell, do tell!
